The Pokémon Trading Card Game is an ever-changing, fast moving and unpredictable market. Over the past few years, we’ve seen renewed interest in the hobby due to a number of factors, including:

  • The 25th Anniversary sets driving strong nostalgia;
  • Rapid growth in the player-base and larger media spotlighting the hobby;
  • Strong Sword & Shield-era sets featuring stunning Alternate Arts; and
  • Increase demand for sub-product services such as box breaks

For a time, sets and cards that were readily available quickly became difficult to find. Now that the hype is settling down, let’s see where modern sets stand.

Every month, we will do an installment of this series, Pokémon TCG Market Watch. Our monthly focus will be on;

  • Individual posts focusing on sets that have released in the last rolling 18-month period; and
  • General tracking of popular sealed products and chase cards.

Our monthly posts will be posted at the start of each month and will focus on the movements in valuations for the previous months. A February 2023 named post will focus on January 2023 movements as these are the movements that could influence performance in the month of February 2023.

This series is not financial advice but is rather a way to help collectors know the trajectory of a card’s availability and keeping you informed.
